Mobile Building Control

The dream

Have you ever dreamed of an intuitive tablet app for your inspections?

Perhaps an app that has the plans and drawings on board? An app that shows you contacts, visits, inspection notes, photographs, items not right, and even pricing information?

Perhaps the tablet app works perfectly even when you are in a signal black spot.

Then dream no longer. Mobile Building Control is currently in beta for both M3 and iLAP.

Tony's story

Tony syncs his tablet before leaving home. He looks at this appointments for the day, and looks over his other building control applications too.

For his first appointment, he selects the building control record and the map instantly centres itself on the property, and shows Tony in relation to it.

Opening the details view, he quickly looks through the list of items not right, the plans, the previous inspection notes, the contacts, and even the price and payment information.

When Tony arrives on site, he can't find the foreman. The labourers don't speak English very well, so Tony uses the built-in phrase book to introduce himself and ask for the foreman.

Shortly after, he is in the site office with the foreman. The plan taped to the wall is a newer version than the plan on the tablet. So as an interim measure, Tony photographs the new plan straight into the record and zooms in to start using it.

The footings are now clear of the roots, so Tony ticks this off from his list of previous issues and updates the inspection. He decides to take a quick photograph into the record and puts a date in his diary for his next visit to this site before driving off.

Back at the office

Meanwhile, back at the office, Amy takes a call about a dangerous structure. On the web app, she opens the map page which shows the last known location of each officer.

Dan is the closest, and his details were only updated 5 minutes ago, so Amy phones Dan and asks him to investigate.
